Form Builder Quickstart

1. Open Your PDF

Go to Form Builder, then choose or drop one supported PDF. The editor is available before sign-in.

2. Add Text Fields

Choose Add text field to place a field on the current page. Select the field to move, resize, rename, or delete it.

Field names must be unique. A name cannot conflict with another reviewed field or an existing field already stored in the source PDF. Field names are limited to 64 characters.

3. Optionally Run Assisted Detection

Choose Auto-detect fields to look for possible field locations in the browser. You can cancel while detection is running.

When detection finishes, review every proposed field. Manual fields remain unchanged. If you run detection again, Form Builder asks before replacing only the previously detected fields.

4. Use The Local Draft

Form Builder saves one unfinished browser-local draft. Returning to Form Builder restores the PDF and reviewed field state when that draft is valid.

Use Discard draft when you no longer want the local copy. Browser storage limits or private-browsing restrictions can prevent saving.

5. Export

Choose Export fillable PDF. Sign in if requested. Form Builder sends the source PDF and reviewed text-field metadata to the authenticated export service, creates the fields in RAM, and returns the completed PDF directly.

The default filename is <original-basename>_fillable.pdf.

Troubleshooting

  • If no possible fields are found, add fields manually.
  • If detection is cancelled or fails, existing fields stay unchanged.
  • Convert XFA documents to a flat PDF before using Form Builder.
  • Remove password protection before opening an encrypted PDF.
  • Confirm every field name and placement before export.
